Undulate ray
The undulate ray (Raja undulata) lives in the western Mediterranean and from Ireland to the Canary Islands and Mauritania.
Where to find them?
You can discover this species in the Ports aquarium, located in the Mediterranean installation.
General aspects
Its combination of colours allows it to perfectly camouflage itself on sandy bottoms, and thereby go unnoticed by potential predators. During the breeding season, females lay around fifteen eggs, each in a resistant capsule up to nine centimetres long. Incubation takes place for between 4 and 5 months.
