Mediterranean tortoise

This installation represents the typical Mediterranean ecosystem in which three threatened species are found: Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni), the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca) and the Cartagena rockrose (Cistus heterophyllus), a plant that is endemic to the Spanish Levant.

Thanks to collaboration with the Regional Environmental Ministry, the Oceanogràfic de València is involved in several programmes to help recover threatened local species.
