COMUNICADO

 

Around eleven o’clock in the morning of July 9, a fire broke out in the Oceanogràfic of València.

The fire was in the access door to the Oceans area and was extinguished in twenty minutes, after the intervention of the firemen, without affecting any person or animal of the center.

Specifically burned artificial decorative rock made with polyurethane that surrounds the entrance, which caused a spectacular smoke, similar to the one generated by the “fallas”, without hardly damaging the structure that supports it.

As soon as the fire was declared and following the safety protocol of the Oceanogràfic, the visitors were promptly evacuated, just over 1,000 at that time, and around 350 employees, in accordance with the drills that are usually carried out in the aquarium foreseeing this type of contingencies.

They intervened with speed and efficiency units of the fire station of the Avenue of the Silver of València, Local Police and National Police and Civil Protection.So far, the causes of the origin of the fire are being investigated.

The Oceanogràfic opens its facilities with total normality.
